My Study Abroad Experience: Cork, Ireland
In Spring 2024 I travelled abroad to study at University College Cork (UCC) in Cork, Ireland. Studying abroad at UCC was a rich and captivating experience. Getting to study alongside Irish students allowed for true immersion into Irish culture. This along with UCC’s beautiful and historical campus settled right in the heart of Cork City and on the banks of the famous River Lee made for the experience to be unforgettable. Beyond the classroom, I was able to engage in a diverse range of activities, from exploring the city’s lively trad music scene to venturing into the stunning Irish country side. UCC’s commitment to their international students made me feel like I belonged and allowed me to connect with the school and the city in a fulfilling and memorable way.
I took many classes while abroad, among my favorite were my Irish Folklore class and Studies in Shakespeare. Both of my professors were incredibly intelligent and well spoken. They taught their classes with great enthusiasm and my education substantially benefited from their teaching.
Feature in the Cork Echo Newspaper
A few of my friends and I were even featured in Cork City newspaper, the Echo! Here we are enjoying the Irish sun in Fitzgerald Park. For sure one of our highlights from studying abroad. A very fun memory captured and memorialized in the historic newspaper that is the Echo.
